Frequently Asked Questions
How do I make an appointment?
Please contact JOT Psychology for a brief 15-minute phone consultation. We will be able to assess your needs and go over any questions you may have. We can decide at the end of the conversation if we wish to move forward with scheduling an initial appointment.
What insurances do you currently accept?
At this time, JOT Psychology is in network with Tricare, Anthem, and Medicare. However, it is encouraged for all potential patients check with their insurance to make sure that Dr. Oye-Trautloff is in their specific insurance plan. JOT Psychology would be an out-of-network provider for other insurance plans. In these cases, a superbill can be provided so that patients can seek reimbursement.
What are your rates?
Patients can inquire into cash pay rates and receive a Good Faith Estimate. Some sliding scale services are available based on financial need on a limited basis.
Good Faith Estimate Notice: You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule and item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprised or call 1-800-985-3059.
What are the benefits of paying privately?
While the stigma around seeking mental health treatment has progressed and evolved, the stigma around seeking mental health treatment exists. Confidentiality is one reason why patients seek private pay. This is particularly applicable for patients who do not wish to carry a diagnosis in their medical file. Additionally, some insurance providers may place limitations or restraints on what they will cover, such as diagnosis, modes of therapy, or duration of treatment. This may include requiring authorizations or have a patient meet their health insurance deductible prior to covering therapy costs. These factors could create unnecessary stress and difficulty in the continuity of care.
Do you currently provide services in person or via Telehealth?
Psychotherapy is offered both in person and via Telehealth at this time. While Telehealth is a service that is provided, it may not be an appropriate fit for every person and situation. Telehealth also carries certain risks and benefits. Patients who are interested in psychotherapy via Telehealth can discuss their preference during the initial consultation.
Where are your office locations for office visits?
There are two office locations, Sorrento Valley and Carlsbad, for patients who would like to be seen in person. Both offices have free onsite parking available for patients.
